Misunderstanding Learning Theories

Image sourced from Google images
I had to post this quick blog because in my blog Learning Thoeries, styles and ICT's,
I wrote some things on Learning Theories without having the correct understanding of each theory. I had totally misunderstood them.
(I guess that is what happens when you recover from being sick. Sorry everyone)

I still think I lend to behaviourism, (because it was the way I was taught) but not neccessarily connectivism. Probably more constructivism than connectivism.

Ahhhhh too many ism's.... :)

I hope that I can understand this more and before I do the quiz.

Has anyone got any tips on how to actually remember what each one is all about?
I'd be so apppreciative to hear them!

  1. Hey Shelley,

I have put them in my head by applying descriptions based of the words
    i.e. behaviourism = learned behaviour
constructivism = learned through constructing own understanding and previous experiences

I'll have a look in my notebook and get back to you on those! :)

I love the fact that you are prepared to revise your thoughts and knowledge on learning styles - building your synapses!!!!!

    Cheers

  2. Hey Kat,

Thanks for that! Yeah I am starting to learn them. Slowly:) Behaviourism is pretty self explanatory really isn't it?
Constructivism is easy because I remember - construct - learners construct their own understanding
Cognitivism is the one that gets me:)
    Connectivism does too...

Thanks for the compliment too! I have also discovered that in doing my science assignment and expert group work that I am more a global learner than a sequential learner as first thought. I get the overall picture of how things work but knowing the little parts of what makes it up is what I stumble on. Then BAM I get it:)

It is all a learning curve isn't it. Now I guess we have to aplly this to our students too:)

I am really enjoying your blog by the way!
