Welcome to my very first blog post (on a personal level). I want to share something that God has been speaking to me about over the last few weeks. Are you ready?:)
What or who has got your attention?
In this busy lifestyle we live, I want to ask you:- what or who has your attention? Is it something/someone that brings you fulfillment, replenishes your strength and renews your hope? Is it something/someone who is worthy of your attention, or does it/do they sap you dry and leave you feeling like a parched brook with no life or energy?
God has been gently reminding me during the last few weeks that He WANTS my attention. In the busyness of life, no matter where I'm at, He desires to know me more and more. It is the same with you. He wants your attention. Sometimes we just need to stop whatever it is that we are doing or are in the midst of and just exhale, shut our eyes , slow down, be still and give Him the attention He deserves.
"Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10
Ever wondered why it seems like you cannot hear His voice or feel Him near ? Especially when you are so busy or seem to need Him the most? Maybe, just maybe you need to stop and shut your eyes to everything going on around you and just listen. Give Him the attention and wait for Him to speak to you.
Abit harsh?! Yes maybe, but you know what - it is a hard truth that I have had to learn and re-learn over and over again. Our God, our Father, desires us and wants us to desire Him. He wants us to love Him, thirst after Him and draw close to Him.
Psalm 42:1 says:
"As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You O, God"
"But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works"
For me personally, worship music is the thing that just takes me to a place of total surrender and reckless abandonment in Him. He speaks so clearly to me, especially when I shut everything else out and just focus on Him. It is a choice to do this though.
When our attention and our eyes are upon Him, our attention is on His glory and grace, the things of earth grow dim. Take for instance a chandelier, a source of light. When we look at it, we see its beauty and it provides an incredible source of light for those in close proximity.
When we look at one light source, such as a chandelier, it is then hard to move our focus onto anything else. Our eyes have to readjust to the surroundings again.Let me encourage you to look to the light of the world. Give your attention to Him, let Him speak to you . Let Him be the centre of your world. When we put our focus on Him and give Him the attention everything else that was troubling us becomes dim in comparison.
I hope that you have been blessed by my very first blog post. Please feel free to follow me and add comments or ask questions. I look forward to joining with you all on this journey.
